I am a professor of creative writing and American literature at New Mexico Highlands University in Las Vegas, New Mexico. Over the last six years, I have devoted much of my academic life to (actually, I have become obsessed with) studying the history, aesthetics, social implications, evolution and performance associated with stand-up comedy, the only literary form that grows directly out of American soil.
